HOME SWEET HOME

We are redecorating some little bits of the flat and initially I was thinking of Farrow and Ball colours schemes but since then I have had  a crush on a few wallpapers. Trouble is I actually  only need it for a hall and loos...
I love wallpaper I have fond memories of my grandparents huge flowers and I designed textiles inspired by them, I also love William Morris and Marimekko or the Collier Campbell sisters.
Living in London it's hard to ignore the revival with Cole and Son,Sanderson etc... here's a few that I selected.
How about you, are you dead set against wallpaper or open to it? Which one do you like if any?

NOSFERATU

This week end the weather was so beautiful we took pictures while wandering around
our new favourite playground since we moved in the area of Highgate...the cemetary and Waterlow park.
I bought the Dracula book of course and it was far better than expected a very modern writing style from Bram Stocker one of my favourite book now! Then last week I found on ebay the DVD of Nosferatu by Werner Herzog.

I love vampires movies and I vaguely remembered this one it is  very different from the Dracula both have great actors here Isabelle Ajani who looks just like a silent movie heroine and Bruno Ganz. I especially really loved the way Klaus Kinsky interpreted the  undead he manages to show the soul of the monster...Very romantic and atmospheric.

These pics are taken from Swain's lane it is the east side of the cemetary which is open daily we also visited the oldest part the west side  with  a tour a few months ago under crazy pouring rain it was quite an experience .

WARNING if you have rats phobia do not watch!
How about you do you like vampires?

Delon in Dior

La piscine /Swimming pool  directed by Jacques Deray.

St Tropez 1969 a paradise? At first it seems so: an amazing villa on the french riviera with a  swimming pool, Alain Delon and Romy Schneider as a perfect couple, beautiful, rich, perfectly tanned and happy.
Then arrives Maurice Ronet an overbearing cynical mondain who had a past with Romy's character. He brought with him a lethal weapon in the form of his daughter Jane Birkin:  a gorgeous  Lolita....and paradise turns slowly into hell around the closed set of the swimming pool under constant blazing heat. Death is near...

The fact that Romy and Alain had  been a couple in real life but separated a while before they made the movie creates a special atmosphere too.
And Maurice Ronet who was friends with Delon also met a similar fate in Plein soleil 1960 same cast, same death in water. (it was later remade as The talented Mr Ripley with Matt Damon and Jude Law who also features in  a Dior perfume ad).
It's such a stylish movie and still so modern it's no wonder Dior has been using it for his Eau Sauvage ads since 2010.
